eduroam is the secure, worldwide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community.
Staff, researchers and students from participating institutions in over 100 territories can use eduroam to get online when visiting other participating institutions.
UKRI supports use of eduroam by visitors and staff.
UKRI provides an eduroam visited service - allowing visitors to connect from their mobile devices - and a home service - allowing staff with accounts that end with any of these domain names -
- to use eduroam when visiting other sites.
NB | Before using eduroam please ensure you understand and accept the eduroam (UK) policy and the UKRI Acceptable use of ICT Systems and Services Policy. |
It would be helpful if UKRI staff made their visitors aware of the next section.
UKRI provide eduroam to visitors at the sites listed below.
Some other UKRI sites provide an eduroam service that is managed and supported by one of the organisations that were subsumed into UKRI. Those are advertised as being provided by one of the Research Councils.
Please ensure that your device has been set up correctly before you visit. Your IT support service should be able to assist you.

If you have an account that uses any of the domains listed above, you can use eduroam wherever an organisation provides an eduroam service to visitors. In eduroam terminology, UKRI provides an eduroam home service for people with those accounts.
Read Setting up eduroam for information on setting up your devices to use eduroam.
NB | If your account belongs to one of the other subdomains of ukri.org, such as nerc.ukri.org or stfc.ukri.org, the UKRI eduroam home service will not authenticate you. |
You might still be able to use your account credentials to access eduroam but you will need to contact your IT help desk. |
